Overview
Tanisha represents individuals and corporations facing white collar criminal prosecutions and governmental enforcement actions. She also manages and conducts internal investigations for various organizations, including financial institutions, private and public universities and schools, and medical providers, on a variety of sensitive issues, including Title IX, financial fraud, and labor and employment concerns.
Before joining the firm, Tanisha was a partner at a regional law firm, where she focused her practice on white collar criminal defense, government investigations, internal investigations, and complex civil litigation. Previously, Tanisha spent five years in the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office in New York City where she prosecuted and tried a variety of criminal cases, ranging from financial to violent crimes.
Representative Experience
- Represented ambulatory dental practice during government investigation into False Claims Act violations and achieved favorable resolution of investigation with no charges brought
- Represented a prominent political figure charged with alleged bribery, conspiracy, and false statements, resulting in the dismissal of the bribery, conspiracy, and two false statement counts and a probationary sentence for the remaining count, which was terminated early by a presidential pardon
- Represented small business owner in tax fraud investigation by government. No charges were brought
- Obtained compassionate release of client from Federal Bureau of Prisons due to failure to provide adequate medical care, shortening sentence by over 100 months
- Conducted internal investigations related to sexual assault allegations on behalf of numerous educational institutions, including Title IX work
- Conducted internal investigation relating to nepotism on behalf of major public university
- Conducted internal investigation relating to racial discrimination allegations for local remodeling business
- Conducted internal investigation relating to sexual harassment and stalking allegations for agricultural organization
- Achieved summary judgment on behalf of private university in federal wrongful death lawsuit that was affirmed on appeal to the Fourth Circuit
