Day in the Life of A Summer Associate
8:30 a.m. – Arrive at Moore & Van Allen. Although a little tired from dinner with other summer associates at a member’s home the night before, you make your way to the 47th floor for your weekly Hiring Partner’s breakfast.
9:38 a.m. – Return to your desk and begin reviewing email and requests for the day’s work, diving immediately into research on how a major banking client could restructure the debt of a pending acquisition target.
11:53 a.m. – Switch gears to prepare notes for a meeting with the internal client team, knowing you have valuable insight to add on how the client should form a joint venture.
12:47 p.m. – Head up to a “lunch and learn” presentation on the PGA’s Wachovia Championship and its impact on the Carolinas, presented by the Chairman and Tournament Director.
2:07 p.m. – Prepare for your 2:30 p.m. in-house meeting with your pro bono client and supervising attorney to discuss facts of the client’s suit against her landlord.
4:18 p.m. – Put the finishing touches on a brief for summary judgment that you have been drafting with a senior associate in the litigation department.
5:58 p.m. – Meet up with your fellow summer associates to celebrate the end of your last week. You turn in early to rest up for the tomorrow’s Carolina Panthers’ pre-season football game, to which a senior partner invited all of the summer associates.
