An Associate's Experience
When I joined the securitization team at Moore & Van Allen as a first-year lawyer, I began working for one of our clients, a NYSE-listed company, in the day-to-day management of a securitization which we had previously closed for them. Within months, I was heavily involved in drafting and negotiating various amendments and waivers related to that facility.
Three years later, our relationship with this client has greatly expanded and I have become the "go-to" person for their business people and in-house counsel for the various transactions in which I have been involved. I often lead discussions with business contacts and negotiations with outside counsel.
Working with this client so extensively has taught me that being responsive to client demands, although at times challenging in a service industry like ours, can reap huge rewards in professional development and job satisfaction. I'm skeptical I could have gotten this kind of early experience anywhere else.
