Shedding Light (without the spotlight)
Charlotte White Collar, Regulatory Defense and Investigations Member and Co-head Valecia McDowell was featured as the cover story of the North Carolina 2020 issue of Super Lawyers Magazine, which published in January. The feature article, “Shedding Light (without the spotlight),” discusses McDowell’s legal focus, growth as an attorney and individual, practicing as a female of color, and much more.
“’When I look across my career and I think of ways in which I’ve moved the needle in a positive way, a lot of that comes to places either where we’ve remediated or we’ve encouraged a client to an outcome they might not have otherwise reached,’” McDowell said in the article. “’That’s how systems change, right?’”
In addition to McDowell’s feature article, she was named to the Super Lawyers “Top 50” list of Women North Carolina Super Lawyers, the “Top 25” list of Charlotte Super Lawyers and the “Top 100” list of North Carolina Super Lawyers.
