WoMVA Hosts Second Annual MVA Bowl

May 2013

The Women of Moore & Van Allen hosted the second annual MVA Bowl client event at the North Carolina Dance Theatre on May 16.  Moore & Van Allen attorneys and clients enjoyed tasting their way around the room as they networked and sampled Dance Theatre performance-themed desserts.  Each dessert was prepared by a local female chef who was selected for this year’s MVA Bowl competition.

The 2013 MVA Bowl featured Chef Courtney Paul, founder of Courtney Paul Chocolates; Chef Beth Robb, founder of SweetB Unrefined; Chef D. Megan Lambert, Associate Instructor in the International Baking & Pastry Program at Johnson & Wales University; and Chef ‘Emma Merisier, founder of Southern Cake Queen and Charlotte's first mobile cupcakery, The Pink Lady.  Attendees voted Chef ‘Emma Merisier the winner of this year’s Bowl, for her vanilla raspberry “Cinderella” creation, which was adorned with edible glass slippers.

The event was spearheaded by MVA Manager of Diversity and Community Initiatives Stephanie Gryder, and emceed by Diversity Committee Chairs and Members Valecia McDowell and Amy Johnson.  Other MVA presenters included Corporate Associate Courtenay Clark, Public Affairs Associate Leslie Pedernales and Financial Services Associate Stacey Vandiford
