Pedernales featured speaker at SEATOA Conference

March 30, 2015

Charlotte Public Affairs Associate Leslie Pedernales was a featured speaker at the South East Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (SEATOA) annual meeting and conference in Savannah, Georgia on March 30, 2015.  Pedernales’s interactive workshop, “Copyright & Licensing for Public Access Television Programming,” provided information on what copyright is, what kinds of things it protects, how long it lasts, how PEG stations can use copyrighted material (Creative Commons, Fair Use, or getting permission), and how television producers can protect their own creative works.  SEATOA is a professional organization composed of individuals serving citizens through city and county government and regional authorities in the states of Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee in the development, regulation and administration of voice, video, data communications, broadband and PEG operations and information systems services.  This year’s conference, the organization’s 14th annual broadband & PEG Conference, featured FCC Commissioner Mignon Clyburn as the keynote speaker.
