Domestic Violence Pro Bono Attorney Training

October 23, 2009

MVA is pleased to work with United Family Services' Domestic Violence Unit's Legal Representation Project and Victim Assistance in bringing domestic violence/pro bono training program to the firm.

Attorneys will learn how to pursue a Domestic Violence Protective Order (DVPO) on behalf of a victim of domestic violence.  Participants will receive information on pertinent North Carolina General Statutes, copies of DVPO forms, an overview of domestic violence and its impact and an overview of the Legal Representation Project (LPR).

Speakers include two respected District Court Judges with experience in DV court, an experienced Family Law attorney, the Mecklenburg County Assistant District Attorney and a Women’s Commission representative.  The Victim’s Assistance Coordinator will present as well as the LRP Coordinator.

NC CLE accreditation is pending for this program.
