On the Floor

The South Carolina Senate cancelled session this week due to winter weather and the South Carolina House of Representatives did not meet due to a previously scheduled furlough week. 

In Committee

The House Ways and Means Proviso Subcommittee met this week to review recommendations from the budget subcommittees. 

The full House Ways and Means Committee is scheduled to start their deliberations on the budget next Tuesday after session.

South Carolina receives federal emergency declaration

Governor Haley issues state of emergency on Tuesday and requests federal emergency declaration on Wednesday due to the winter storms. 

MUSC board passes resolution opposing a merger with College of Charleston

A bill to merge the Medical University of South Carolina with the College of Charleston hasn't come up for a vote yet in the General Assembly, but MUSC leaders say the mere idea is already damaging their ability to hire a new president.
