Charlotte-based LendingTree Inc. (NASDAQ: TREE) in the coming years will relocate its headquarters to a mixed-use development in South End. Led by Charlotte Real Estate Member Evan Bass, Associate Richard Simons and Litigation Member Scott Tyler advised LendingTree during this relocation process.

The Spectrum Cos. confirmed April 30 that LendingTree, an online lending marketplace, has signed a lease to occupy 175,000 square feet of office space in the first building, taking about five-and-a-half floors on the top of the west building, said Steve McClure, chief operating officer at The Spectrum Cos. The developer will break ground on the building in June, with an expected delivery in late 2020.

LendingTree is one of several companies in Charlotte that has recently moved key operations out of the suburbs into the center city, with South End in particular blossoming into a primary office submarket in recent years. The Spectrum Cos. says there's nearly 4 million square feet of new office space under construction or that has opened since 2017 in uptown and South End.
