Firm Recognized by Junior League of Charlotte as an Outstanding Community Partner

05.22.2015

On May 19, Moore & Van Allen was named the Junior League of Charlotte (JLC)’s 2014-2015 Outstanding Community Partner for the firm's efforts in combatting human trafficking.

MVA’s Human Trafficking Pro Bono Project, led by Sarah Byrne, partnered with JLC to work with service providers and law enforcement to provide comprehensive legal services to victims. These services include victim-witness advocacy, researching criminal records for expunction eligibility, and other civil law matters such as custody and name change petitions.

Additionally, over the past 10 months, MVA and JLC have co-sponsored a speaker series to raise awareness about human trafficking in Charlotte and throughout North Carolina. This bi-monthly series is an example of how MVA and JLC have combined efforts to connect pro bono service providers with victims of human trafficking.
