Research Triangle represents the geographic region encompassing Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill.  High-tech research facilities attract business from all over the globe and foster a sense of innovation and progress.  The Research Triangle has been ranked #4 for International Emerging Biotech Hubs by Business Facilities magazine (2010).  The area also draws attention to many new start-up drug discovery companies as well as products and services companies.

Three of the nation’s top research universities are located in the Research Triangle:

  • Duke University (Durham)
  • North Carolina State University (Raleigh)
  • University of North Carolina (Chapel Hill)

The city of Chapel Hill has recently received the following accolades:

  • CNN Money magazine (2010) ranked Chapel Hill #40 out of the 100 Best Places to Live and 9th out of the top 25 most affluent cities for the Rich and Single in the U.S.

The city of Raleigh has recently received the following accolades:

  • Businessweek (2012) has selected Raleigh as its #1 best place to live in the country.
  • American City Business Journals (2011) ranked Raleigh #8 for the Strongest U.S. Job Market.
  • Ranked #11 as the Most Affordable City in the nation by Forbes magazine (2011).
  • Ranked in the Top 100 Places to Live in the U.S. by Relocate America (2011), whose annual survey considers educational and employment opportunities, community leadership, and overall quality of life.

The city of Durham has recently received the following accolade:

  • Recently ranked #6 out of the healthiest top 100 U.S. Housing Markets, Hanley Wood Market Intelligence (2010).  This listing is based on an index that measures the key economic variables that drive home sales, including unemployment, home price appreciation, job growth, median income growth, and household growth.
