Bruce E. Miller
A South Carolina Supreme Court-certified specialist in employment and labor law, Bruce Miller counsels private employers of all sizes on wide-ranging employment-related issues—from individual matters to those affecting entire work forces.
He has litigated every major type of discrimination lawsuit, along with numerous commercial, professional, and construction actions in both state and federal courts. Mr. Miller has also been successful in resolving disputes as a mediator.
Mr. Miller believes that promptly addressing difficult workplace issues can often avoid their spiraling out of control -- as exemplified by his recent defusing of a potential sexual harassment claim through a quick and thorough investigation that resulted in a separation agreement with a modest severance payment.
He also recently represented the owner of a multi-story medical office building that had experienced water intrusion damage due to substandard construction work. Mr. Miller successfully negotiated a settlement with five defendants and obtained 93 percent recovery of the owner's ultimate repair costs.
His services to his clients include his handling:
- Employment discrimination: sex, race, age, disability, and national origin
- Retaliation
- Employment contracts and agreements
- Employee covenants, drafting and enforcement
- Wrongful discharge
- Employee handbooks
- Discipline, discharge and grievances
