A registered patent attorney, Fred Bailey helps his clients protect their inventions and trademarks, including hardware, software, processes, logos, words, graphics and other intellectual property related to their products or services. He brings years of experience working in a variety of matters and technologies with an assortment of clients of different nationalities, needs and sizes – from Fortune 500 companies to large foreign-based corporations to single inventors and small companies. He also has experience with patent interference proceedings and has worked on trademark and patent litigations.
He has performed patent prosecution, preparation, and opinion work in the areas of electrical, mechanical, computer hardware, memory subsystems, software, Internet, business methods, telecommunications, digital signal processing, electronic encryption and digital signatures, wireless technology, switched fabric technology, and network security.
In a recent matter, Mr. Bailey obtained several issued patents for a telecom client to help safeguard his product lines in a very competitive market. He also quelled a client's concerns about cross-licensing negotiations by filing several patent applications with expedited examination to help strengthen the client's position during the future negotiations.
Prior to his legal career, Mr. Bailey was an engineer at IBM Corp. where he performed several tasks such as system engineering, test and integration, digital design and VLSI chip design. He also wrote and modified software to aid system hardware and software debug.
Mr. Bailey is not licensed in North Carolina. His practice is restricted to patent and trademark law.
