    Blending the skills honed from her multi-facteed work background -- with experience in private, academia and industry settings -- Kathleen Lynch offers broad technical and legal aptitude related to intellectual property, including IP asset management, litigation, patent validity and infringement analysis.  She focuses her practice in the areas of patent preparation and prosecution as well as licensing and other intellectual property transactional work. 

    She brings extensive medical devise experience and concentrates her patent practice on medical devises, surgical instrumentation and other mechanical technologies, having worked as in-house counsel for a mid-size pharmaceutical/medical devise company for eight years.  As a result, she was able to provide the necessary transactional tools and advice to ensure protection of IP created, including licensing agreements, confidentiality agreements and lab-notebook policies.  Ms. Lynch also has worked within a client's timeframe to obtain non-infringement and invalidity opinions. 

    • She has prior experience as in-house counsel for Georgia Tech in the Office of Technology Licensing.
    • Ms. Lynch worked for eight years as in-house IP counsel for Elan Corporation, handling all matters relating to Elan's medical device and trademark portfolios. 

    Ms. Lynch is admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.  She is not licensed in North Carolina.  Her practice is restricted to patent law.
