Professional Affiliations

Renee Miller practices commercial litigation, focusing on the representation of publicly-traded and privately-held companies. She has represented companies in arbitration, mediation and state and federal court in disputes concerning a wide variety of issues, including class action securities fraud, mortgage fraud, unfair commercial practices, breach of fiduciary duties, commercial real estate, equipment leasing, and misappropriation of trade secrets. Miller also represents clients in internal investigations and external investigations involving state and federal authorities. Similar to her practice involving corporate clients, Miller also has assisted public utilities in litigation and investigations by regulatory agencies.

Miller's experience includes:

  • Representation of a national banking institution in defending lender liability claims based on breach of fiduciary duties related to investment accounts;
  • Representation of a large nationwide mortgage lender in an investigation by the North Carolina Office of the Commissioner of Banks and North Carolina Department of Justice;
  • Representation of a national banking institution in defending a securities fraud class action;
  • Substantial experience obtaining injunctive relief to prohibit misappropriation, use and disclosure of confidential and trade secret information; and
  • Experience working with expert witnesses in a wide variety of disciplines, including matters involving forensic accounting and computer forensic analysis.
