John Gilson has a broad base of experience in finance and corporate related areas, including, private equity and debt, senior and mezzanine finance, venture capital, and financial technology and products. He primarily represents banks, business development companies (BDCs), small business investment companies (SBICs), independent sponsors, fundless sponsors, private equity sponsors and venture capital investors in their investment and finance transactions.

Mr. Gilson has extensive experience regarding SBIC transactional regulations and has authored articles and lectured on the topic.  He also represents specialty lending companies in connection with their lending origination services, consumer products, tech platforms and merchant services.  Prior to joining Moore & Van Allen, Mr. Gilson practiced at Paul Hastings LLP and Morrison Cohen LLP in New York City.
