Nicholas (Nick) C. Russell

Professional Affiliations

Nick Russell is an associate in the Charlotte office of Moore & Van Allen. Russell concentrates his practice in intellectual property with a focus on patent preparation, prosecution, and patent investigations, such as freedom-to-operate, non-infringement, and invalidity investigations.

Russell's research experience makes him well-versed in various biological and chemical arts such as pharmaceuticals, hormone refractory cancers, biomedical devices, and polymers. Russell also has experience providing patent preparation and prosecution in emerging computer and network science technologies such as social media, social media analytics, cloud computing, and mobile devices. 

Before joining Moore & Van Allen in 2010, Russell worked for a University’s Office of Research and Sponsored Programs developing technology commercialization for the University, specifically patent procurement and licensing. 

Russell graduated from Marquette University Law School where he served as president of the Intellectual Property Law Association, as an editor on the Intellectual Property Law Review, and as a law clerk for the Milwaukee County Circuit Court civil division.  He completed a Master of Science degree from the University of Notre Dame and was also a Howard Hughes Medical Research Fellow at Princeton University.
