Sumner Published in ABA Litigation Reference Book
Charleston Litigation Member Robert Sumner served as a contributing author for the American Bar Association book Trying Your First Case— A Practitioner’s Guide, which published this summer. Sumner authored a chapter entitled “The Importance of an Effective Trial Theme.”
The book, a collective work of the Trial Practice Committee of the ABA Section of Litigation, was compiled to give both young and experienced lawyers a playbook to use when preparing a case for trial. Detailed examples offer insights on how to persuade jurors, prepare efficiently, and present evidence and arguments in a compelling manner.
In addition to Sumner’s chapter, other chapters include:
- Jury Instructions
- Opening Statements
- Cross-Examination
- Dealing with Expert Witnesses
- Closing Arguments
- Post-Trial Proceedings
