MVA Wealth and Estate Planning Associates Thomas Cooper and Caitlin Horne served as panelists for the ABA Virtual 2020 Fall Tax Meeting which was held September 29-October 2. Thomas spoke on the topic “Tax Proposals of the Presidential Candidates” during the section titled, “Estate & Gift Taxes and Fiduciary Income Tax Joint Session” which was held on September 29. This panel explored the tax proposals of the presidential candidates, including potential tax legislation that may develop from 2020 election results.

Caitlin spoke on the topic “Tax Planning for Closely-Held Business Interests Before a Liquidity Event” during the section titled, “Closely Held Businesses & RPTE Joint Program: Part 1” on September 30. This panel discussed the suite of tax planning strategies advisors should consider for their clients before a sale or an IPO of a closely-held business.
