South Carolina Legislative Update - April 7, 2014

South Carolina General Assembly

Emma’s Law, S. 137

Emma’s Law passed the S.C. House overwhelmingly Wednesday – in an unexpectedly lopsided 112 to 0 vote – after a year-long battle to get through that chamber.  The bill could be passed by the S.C. Senate and be on its way to the governor for her signature as early as next week, supporters said Thursday.

CBC Oil, S. 1035/H. 4803

The S.C. House passed H. 4803 Wednesday that would provide a narrow exception for a type of medical marijuana extract that offers hope for those with severe forms of epilepsy.  H. 4803 is a companion bill to S. 1035 that was adopted by the Senate on March 27 and referred to the House Judiciary Committee for review.

Introductions

H. 5026 – Health Enterprise Zone Act

S. 1189 – Distributed Energy Resources and Leasing Program
