Immigration Client Alert: Changes in Visa Fees

Effective as of September 12th, 2014, fee adjustments have been made to some Immigrant and Non-Immigrant Visas

U.S. Department of State (USDOS) has made adjustments to the fees for the following categories:

Nonimmigrant Visas:

E-Visas – Treaty/Trader visas and Australian specialty occupation visa have been reduced to $205 from the original fee of $270.

K-visas – the free for the Fiancé or Spouse of U.S. citizen category visa has increased to $265.

Immigrant Visas:

Fees for IV applicants with an approved I-130 Immediate Relative of Family Preference petition have increased to $325

Fees for IV applicants with an approved I-140 employment-based petition have decreased to $345.

If you apply for a category where the fee has been raised and you have already paid the fee, you are not required to pay the difference between the amounts of you paid and the new fee as long as your appointment is scheduled on or before December 11th, 2014.

If you apply for a category where the fee has been raised, you are required to pay the difference IF your appointment is after December 12th, 2014.

USDOS will not refund the difference for the fees that have been lowered. Complete information on the fee change can be found at the DOS Website.
