Charlotte Associate Mindy Vervais was published in North Carolina Lawyers Weekly on October 27. Her article, "Domestic Violence Awareness Month – A Time for More than Just Awareness,” provides an overview of the Firm’s Domestic Violence Project and partnership with Safe Alliance. Vervais, who leads the Firm’s Domestic Violence Pro Bono Project, also issued a call to action within the piece for the legal community to join in the efforts against domestic violence.

“According to safealliance.org, one in four women will experience domestic violence during her lifetime. Three women are killed every day in America by their intimate partner and more than 15 million children are exposed to domestic violence every year… The numbers demonstrate that incidents of domestic violence are not as far removed as one may think. Domestic violence can impact anyone, regardless of gender, race, age, sexual orientation, religion, socioeconomic background or education level.”
