June 11, 2009

Jared W. Poplin has received the Sally & Bill Van Allen Public Service Award for 2009.  The eighth annual awards ceremony was held at the Hilton Center City in Charlotte on June 11th.

Mr. Poplin was recognized for his outstanding public service efforts over the past year.  He has successfully coordinated and led the Firm’s Devonshire Reading Program for the past five years.  The program allows Moore & Van Allen employees to volunteer their time by reading to the third grade classes at Devonshire Elementary, which is a public school primarily attended by children from low income households.

Mr. Poplin is an associate with the corporate team at Moore & Van Allen.  His practice focus includes:  merger and acquisition transactions, corporate reorganizations, corporate finance transactions, contractual matters and general corporate law matters.  Mr. Poplin graduated summa cum laude from Samford University and earned his J.D. from UNC Chapel Hill, where he was a member of the North Carolina Law Review Staff and the North Carolina Honor Court.  Additionally, he serves as a member of the Firm’s Public Service Committee and is active in his church.

The Public Service Award bears the name of two revered members of the Moore & Van Allen family, Sally and Bill Van Allen, whose trail blazing commitment and effort have helped to shape the Charlotte community.
