Moore & Van Allen PLLC (MVA) is pleased to announce that Member Kate G. Cole has been selected as one of the Charlotte Business Journal’s 2020 Women in Business Achievement Award winners. The 2020 class of honorees will be formally recognized during an awards event on February 24, as well as with special print and online features.

The Women in Business Achievement Awards program was established more than two decades ago. Each winner is chosen based on significant contributions to her company, industry and community.

Cole practices on the firm’s Intellectual Property team. She was elected as a firm member in 2014, is an active member of the Charlotte community, and a champion and role model for females in business. In her practice, Cole represents public and private companies in connection with a variety of intellectual property matters, including trademark, patent, copyright, and trade secret matters. On the litigation side, Cole has experience representing both plaintiffs and defendants in federal courts throughout the United States. She also assists clients with transactional matters related to the development, acquisition, and licensing of IP, and other corporate and M&A matters with IP components.

In addition to her successful practice, Cole serves as co-chair of the firm’s female affinity group, Women of Moore & Van Allen (WoMVA). She leads many WoMVA programs, including a biennial WoMVA retreat, quarterly luncheons, and female client events that enhance the sophisticated legal portfolios of MVA’s female attorneys. Cole has also served on MVA’s Diversity Committee, as a mentor in the firm’s Career Development Program, and on the firm’s Young Professionals Networking Committee. She is active in the local community, serving on the Mint Museum Board of Trustees and on the Safe Alliance Board of Directors.

“We are thrilled to see Kate receive this well-deserved recognition. She brings a no-nonsense approach to her practice and has had a tremendous impact on the growth of our group,” said MVA Member and IP Practice Leader Kevin Ransom. “Her goal every day is to better serve her clients. She is also a big believer that opportunities do not fall into your lap, but that you must seek them. She has intimate knowledge of her clients’ business, strategy, and objectives, and uses her skill to achieve client goals.”
