Anne Kelley Russell panelist for ABA Real Property, Trust and Estate e-CLE

Charleston Estate & Wealth Planning Team member Anne Kelley Russell will serve as a panelist for the American Bar Association (ABA) Real Property, Trust and Estate Law Section e-CLE entitled: The SECURE Act: Planning for the End of the Stretch IRA, which is being held on February 25. Anne Kelley, Christopher Hoyt and Russell G. Gully will present a program, which will:

  • Describe the various provisions of the SECURE Act and how they will affect taxpayers
  • Analyze the new rules for liquidating inherited retirement accounts, including identifying the types of beneficiaries who will qualify for more favorable treatment
  • Provide practical advice on changes that might be needed to existing trust documents in order to provide the most favorable outcomes under the new rules
  • Examine if and when naming a tax-exempt charitable remainder trust as the beneficiary of a retirement account will provide favorable tax outcomes
