Mint Museum Dedicates Sally and Bill Van Allen Terrace

10.2012

The Mint Museum Uptown has formally named its front terrace after Moore & Van Allen founder Bill Van Allen and his wife, Sally. The dedication took place during a luncheon event at the museum on October 24.

“The Firm is grateful to Bill and Sally for their generosity and ongoing contribution to and influence on the Charlotte arts,” said Moore & Van Allen Chairman and Member Ernie Reigel. “The Van Allens’ allegiance has elevated the prominence, profile and appreciation of the arts within the community. This honor is more than deserved, and will serve as a constant and welcome reminder of the impact their patronage has had on the city.”

Mrs. Van Allen attended the event with other members of the Van Allen family, and representatives from both MVA and the Mint. The event also served as a celebration for Mrs. Van Allen’s 91st birthday. Mr. Van Allen passed away in early 2011.

“The Mint is proud to recognize and salute Moore & Van Allen’s passion for, and dedication to, our beloved community,” said Dr. Kathleen V. Jameson, President & CEO of the Mint Museum. “Sally and Bill have generously committed their time and resources to the Mint for countless years, not to mention Sally’s outstanding service as President of the Mint Museum Auxiliary from 1969-1970. Devoted leaders, like the Van Allens, are critical to Charlotte’s continued growth. Their boundless energy and steadfast support ensures a vibrant and successful future for the Mint and all of our cultural treasures.”
