Moore & Van Allen Attorneys and Firm Honored by Safe Alliance

Clay & Vervais Named Pro Bono Attorneys of the Year; Firm Presented with Commitment to Justice Award
May 2013

For the second consecutive year, Safe Alliance honored Moore & Van Allen PLLC and Charlotte Litigation Attorneys Cabell Clay and Mindy Vervais at the 3rd Annual Legal Representation Project Attorney Appreciation Event.  The event, which took place on May 1, is held annually to honor the generosity of the pro bono attorneys who support Safe Alliance (formerly known as United Family Services).

Clay and Vervais were named Pro Bono Attorneys of the Year for their pro bono contributions to MVA’s Domestic Violence (DV) Pro Bono Project, which directly supports Safe Alliance’s Legal Representation Project (LRP).  Additionally, Safe Alliance presented the Firm with the Commitment to Justice Award to recognize and thank MVA for “outstanding contribution” and continued dedication to the LRP.

Safe Alliance’s mission is “to provide hope and healing for people in crisis,” through programs and services such as crisis lines, shelter, hospital accompaniment, education, safety planning and legal representation.  MVA is a long-time supporter of Safe Alliance, and has provided not only legal representation, but also meals and shelter.  Earlier this year, the Firm furnished and donated the Sally Van Allen Bedroom, a one-bedroom apartment within Safe Alliance’s new Clyde and Ethel Dickson Domestic Violence Shelter.  In 2012, MVA attorneys involved with the DV Pro Bono Project donated more than 350 pro bono hours directly related to Safe Alliance matters.
