Myrick & Team See Nine-Year Long Case End in Win

February 2014

In a case pending for nine years in New Hanover County, the N.C. Court of Appeals, in a unanimous opinion, ruled that the trial court erred in certifying a class action involving in excess of $150 million in claims for payday lending.  The Court of Appeals vacated entirely the trial court’s rulings, and remanded the case for individual arbitration.

Charlotte Litigation Member Tom Myrick led the MVA defense team, which included Litigation Members Mark Nebrig and Jonathan Watkins.  The ruling, which was filed on February 4, can be seen here.
