McDowell Named in Regard to City Investigation

Charlotte Litigation Member Valecia McDowell was named in The Charlotte Observer on December 2 and December 9, in coverage surrounding a Charlotte Fire Department investigation.  Charlotte City Manager Ron Carlee received support to hire a third party to investigate an allegation that the Fire Department retaliated against a whistleblower.  The articles reference a 2010 investigation in which the city hired McDowell to conduct an extensive probe in regard to an allegation that a former City Council member had harassed a female employee.

“She interviewed nearly 20 city officials, reviewed emails, handwritten notes and checked the landline phone records at the Government Center in an attempt to check the accuracy of one council member’s interview.”
