Moore & Van Allen announces Valecia M. McDowell elected to firm Management Committee

Moore & Van Allen PLLC is pleased to announce that Charlotte Litigation Member Valecia M. McDowell has been named to the firm’s Management Committee. Other Management Committee members include: Member Tom Mitchell, who was named Ernie W. Reigel’s successor as firm managing member and chairman earlier this year; Member Joseph A. Fernandez; Member Jeremy H. Godwin; Member Arlene D. Hanks; Member Robert I. Kenny; Member Cynthia J. Lowery; Member W. Kevin Ransom and Member H. Manning Unger.

McDowell is co-head of the firm's White Collar, Regulatory Defense and Investigations practice. She has experience conducting internal investigations for publicly traded, privately held and nonprofit institutions in the U.S., Europe, Asia and South America. McDowell also possesses significant trial, arbitration and regulatory defense experience in complex, high-stakes cases, particularly in the financial services, securities, manufacturing, telecommunications and health care industries.

Further, as the longstanding co-chair of Moore & Van Allen’s Diversity Committee, McDowell invests in the career trajectories of the firm’s female and minority associates, working to advance diversity within the firm. McDowell also sits on the board of the Arts and Sciences Council and serves as general counsel of the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce. She formerly served as chair of the Community Building Initiative Board, as co-chair of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Cultural Life Task Force, as co-chair of the Mecklenburg County Bar Sub-Committee on Diversity, and as a member of the Council for Children’s Rights Board. Since 2016, McDowell has also taught a Wintersession course on internal investigations at Duke University School of Law.
