Overview
Shane advises and assists his clients on the formation and governance of corporations and limited liability companies (LLCs). Shane also counsels his clients on mergers and acquisitions with a specific focus on tax-free reorganization techniques such as “D” reorganizations.
His estate planning practice includes advice, preparation and implementation of wills, revocable trusts, irrevocable trusts, powers of attorney, and other documents necessary to accomplish his clients’ objectives. Shane employs sophisticated tax planning techniques to support his clients’ tax planning and estate planning goals including advising on grantor retained annuity trusts (GRATs), irrevocable life insurance trusts (ILITs), and multi generation-skipping transfer (GST) tax exempt trusts. Shane also counsels his clients on complicated issues existing with their estate planning documents such as the reciprocal trust doctrine and trust decanting.
Before joining the firm, Shane practiced at a tax boutique law firm in Greenville, South Carolina.
