Sam Skains-Menchaca is an associate in the Charlotte office of Moore & Van Allen’s Intellectual Property team.   Skains-Menchaca’s practice includes defending, enforcing, investigating, licensing and protecting intellectual property rights in a broad array of contexts in the United States and abroad.  Her practice focuses on domestic and international trademark and patent prosecution and enforcement and transactions involving the investigation, sharing, transfer, and use of intellectual property, including assignment, assumption, distribution, license, purchase, and terms of use agreements.

Skains-Menchaca represents clients in a wide range of industries, including apparel and fashion, banking, biotechnology, electronics, energy, entertainment and film, manufacturing and software.  Before practicing law, Skains-Menchaca studied Ecology, Evolution, & Organismal Biology and Spanish at Vanderbilt University and held a position as a teaching assistant for the Introduction to Biological Laboratories.  She graduated from the Tulane University School of Law, where she achieved the highest grade in her International Business Transactions course.
