Immigration Update

03.16.2012

The U.S. Consulate in London recently announced that Nonimmigrant visa services will be limited during the period of July through to the end of August 2012.

The Embassy noted that visa services will be limited during July and August for all nonimmigrant visa categories. The Embassy encourages applicants “to apply for visas during the spring and early summer as appointment availability cannot be guaranteed.” Appointments are scheduled through the Operator Assisted Information Service.Travelers requiring visas are, therefore, advised to apply early to avoid disappointment.  The appointment calendar is open through until the end of June.  If you have plans to travel during the summer, book now as appointment availability cannot be guaranteed. Anyone planning to vacation or travel to the US this summer without a visitor's visa should register now for travel authorization approval under the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA). The Embassy noted that travelers planning on entering the United States visa-free under the Visa Waiver Program by air or sea carrier who are denied travel authorization approval under the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA), will be required to apply for a Visitor Visa and attend a Consular interview prior to being allowed to enter the U.S. If you have questions regarding the use of the ESTA program or if you need a visa for upcoming travel, please speak with your MVA contact.
