Moore & Van Allen (MVA) is proud to announce that Edna Marte, Client Support IT Manager, and Alyssa McLean, Paralegal, have been selected as recipients of the North Carolina Lawyers Weekly 2025 Unsung Legal Heroes Awards. This recognition honors law firm professionals whose dedication, leadership, and behind‑the‑scenes excellence make a profound impact on the legal community. We celebrate their achievements and are thankful to have them as part of the MVA family.
Edna Marte — IT Manager, Client Support
For 25 years, Edna has been a cornerstone of MVA’s Information Technology Department. Rising from Application Analyst to Client Support IT Manager, she has consistently distinguished herself through unmatched professionalism, calm leadership, and a remarkable commitment to the firm’s mission and people. Edna embodies MVA’s core values — Respect, Excellence, Inclusion, Empowerment, Leadership, and Together — in every interaction. Known for her sincerity, kindness, and steady presence in high‑pressure situations, she is widely admired as someone who makes others feel supported, heard, and valued. Colleagues describe Edna as “the epitome of a team player,” “a consummate professional,” and someone who “makes you feel like you matter.”
Alyssa McLean — Paralegal, Commercial Real Estate
Alyssa McLean’s impact extends far beyond her work supporting the firm’s Commercial Real Estate practice. While she provides critical paralegal support on major CRE transactions, she is also at the heart of the firm’s work representing victims of child sexual abuse material (CSAM), an extension of MVA’s Human Trafficking Prevention & Compliance practice. Her work has helped MVA file over 1,000 restitution requests for victim clients, in partnership with agencies such as the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, the FBI, and Homeland Security. Her diligence, compassion, and tenacity ensure that crime survivors receive the restitution and recognition they deserve. Alyssa’s commitment to service extends deeply into the community. She received MVA’s 2023 Outstanding Volunteer Staff Member Award for her profound service to others. As Alyssa says, “Kindness is a choice — and acting on that kindness is service.
