Amy Johnson has been recognized as a Charlotte Business Journal “40 Under 40” winner for 2008.

As a member in the firm’s financial services group, Ms. Johnson concentrates her law practice on public finance.  She is able to serve clients in the capacity of bond counsel, underwriter's counsel, bank counsel, borrower's counsel and trustee's counsel.  She works with various financial structures, including revenue bonds, variable rate demand bonds, auction rate securities, commercial paper, installment financings and certificates of participation.  Ms. Johnson has been selected as one of the Best Lawyers in America for public finance law.

Since 2006, the first year of its existence, Ms. Johnson has served as chair or co-chair of the Charlotte Legal Diversity Clerkship (CLDC) initiative of the Mecklenburg County Bar.  Ms. Johnson’s efforts to increase the diversity of Charlotte’s legal community extend beyond the CLDC.  At her former firm, Ms. Johnson served as co-chair of the diversity committee.  She was the first woman at the firm to chair a firmwide committee.  Ms. Johnson is the current co-chair of her firm’s diversity committee and also serves on the Mecklenburg County Bar’s special committee on diversity.

The 40 Under 40 program honors men and women under the age of 40 based on outstanding achievements both in business and community involvement.  The winners will be recognized at a special cocktail reception on June 12th at Morton’s Uptown in Charlotte.
