Moore & Van Allen is a Finalist at the Charlotte Business Journal’s Green Awards

04.15.2009

Moore & Van Allen, along with Perkins + Will and RT Dooley Construction were named finalists in the Commercial Project of the Year category.

Moore & Van Allen re-constructed an entire floor (15,471 square feet) in their building to become Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Certified.  The space demonstrates the Firm’s commitment to the environment. Almost all demolition waste was recycled or diverted from landfill.  New materials and products had an average of 30 percent recycled content.

In 2008, MVA attorneys successfully achieved Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) professional accreditation.  Less than twenty five attorneys in the state of North Carolina have this accreditation.

Moore & Van Allen also received a nomination in the For-Profit Business category. The Firm is addressing environmental concerns by adopting extensive changes to its operations.  The Firm offers subsidies for use of public transportation and recycles all cardboard, most paper and will soon recycle all cans and glassware.
