Moore & Van Allen PLLC is pleased to announce that Charlotte Member Thomas L. Mitchell has been named chairman of the firm’s Management Committee, effective January 1, 2018. Mitchell, a finance lawyer, succeeds Ernie Reigel, who has served as chairman for the past 15 years.

A 24-year veteran of the firm, Mitchell has served on the Management Committee since 2014 and as chair of the Financial Services practice team for many years. He also co-chairs the firm’s Business Development Committee.

“I am honored to follow Ernie as chairman of our firm,” said Mitchell. “Under Ernie’s leadership, Moore & Van Allen maintained its rich tradition of excellence, expanded and diversified its client base, and established a national practice. I look forward to building on the firm’s successes as we continue to deliver the high quality legal service and innovation our clients require.”

Mitchell is the lead partner for some of Moore & Van Allen’s largest clients in the financial services industry. He has extensive experience representing banks and other financial institutions in a variety of financings, particularly loan syndications, an area in which Moore & Van Allen has been recognized as a national leader.

Mitchell has been consistently recognized as a leading banking and finance lawyer in Chambers USA and Best Lawyers in America. Further, he is active in the community, including his present service on the board of the American Heart Association Greater Charlotte Division. He also serves on the Law Council at Washington and Lee University School of Law.

“Moore & Van Allen is fortunate to have talented lawyers and staff members,” said Reigel. “Tom is the right person to lead us into the firm’s next chapter of growth and success. I look forward to watching him excel in this new role.”
