Environmental and Litigation Member Peter McGrath was quoted in Law360’s article “W.Va Chemical Spill Prompts Dubious Regulatory Fixes,” which published on January 21. The article discusses the new policy that lawmakers and elected officials are rushing to create in the wake of the chemical spill that left 300,000 West Virginia residents without water. McGrath said he would be shocked if something wasn't passed in West Virginia, but said a final bill could provide benefits for some businesses facing financial difficulties.

“There's going to be some political horse trading going on here, especially if you're talking about making private businesses move,” he stated. “There could be some state money provided to help in the cost of that as one potential solution to answer some of that pushback.”
