Taylor Addresses "Hacking Back"

Moore & Van Allen Commercial and Technology Transactions Senior Counsel Todd Taylor was published in InsideCounsel’s “Inside SCOOP” and on InsideCounsel.com on December 14. In the article, “Defending against cyber-attacks,” Taylor addresses the current debate among lawyers and security professionals regarding the legality and effectiveness of counterattacking, or “hacking back,” cybercriminals.  
 
“Pretty clearly, the CFAA [Computer Fraud and Abuse Act] prohibits outside hackers from gaining unauthorized access to a corporation’s system—but how does it address or prevent corporate self-defense or hacking back?” he says.
