Andrew is an associate with Moore & Van Allen’s Intellectual Property group. His practice centers on the preparation and prosecution of U.S. and international patent applications, with a focus on strategically protecting innovations in complex technical fields.

Overview

Andrew routinely advises clients in connection with patent prosecution, patent portfolio management, freedom-to-operate and patentability analyses, and intellectual property due diligence in support of business transactions.

Before entering legal practice, Andrew served as a senior engineer in a research and development capacity, where he led the design and implementation of advanced systems in the fields of automation, robotics, consumer equipment, and manufacturing processes. This first-hand engineering experience enables him to understand and protect innovations from the ground up.

He works with clients across a wide spectrum of technologies, including:

  • Mechanical systems and consumer products
  • Automation and robotics
  • Artificial intelligence and machine learning
  • Cybersecurity and data protection
  • Manufacturing systems and process development

Andrew holds a J.D. from the University of New Hampshire Franklin Pierce School of Law, where he concentrated in intellectual property law. He earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
