Sydney concentrates her practice on matters directed to technology and IP transactions, as well as patent portfolio prosecution and analysis.

Overview

Sydney has experience with matters directed to technology and IP transactions as well as patent portfolio prosecution and analysis, including:

  • Conducting infringement, invalidity and clearance investigations;
  • Performing due diligence related to IP ownership, scope, and product coverage in a variety of M&A and lending transactions;
  • Preparing and prosecuting patent applications in both domestic and international patent offices; and
  • Drafting and assisting in the negotiation of a variety of technology and commercial contracts, including data exchange agreements, software services agreements, licensing agreements, payment processing agreements, and outsourcing agreements.

Sydney holds a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Auburn University and a law degree from Vanderbilt Law School. While at Vanderbilt, Sydney served as a development editor for the Journal of Transnational Law and earned a certificate for extensive coursework in business law. While earning her engineering degree, Sydney worked for Auburn University’s Office of Technology Advancement and Commercialization where she conducted prior art searches and identified potential licensing partners for intellectual property owned by the university.
