Nick Russell is a member in the Charlotte office of Moore & Van Allen. Nick concentrates his practice in intellectual property with a focus on patent preparation, prosecution, patent portfolio management, and patent investigations, such as freedom-to-operate, non-infringement, and invalidity investigations.

Nick has extensive experience providing patent preparation and prosecution in computer and network science technologies such as neural networks, network analysis and maintenance, algorithmic processing, data processing and management, payment networks, authentication methods, cyber security, blockchain technologies, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and mobile devices.

Furthermore, Nick’s research experience makes him well-versed in various biological and chemical arts such as pharmaceuticals and biomedical devices.

Before joining Moore & Van Allen in 2010, Nick worked for a University’s Office of Research and Sponsored Programs developing technology commercialization for the University, specifically patent procurement and licensing.

Russell graduated from Marquette University Law School where he served as president of the Intellectual Property Law Association, as an editor on the Intellectual Property Law Review, and as a law clerk for the Milwaukee County Circuit Court civil division. He completed a Master of Science degree from the University of Notre Dame focusing on the development, progression, and treatment of hormone dependent cancers.
