Gianna Callisto Secures Complete Victory in Mecklenburg County District Court Arbitration

Moore & Van Allen Environmental team associate Gianna Callisto, recently secured a complete victory on behalf of a client in mandatory pretrial arbitration in Mecklenburg County District Court.

In her first litigation case, Callisto represented a client facing claims of trespass, nuisance and negligence brought by neighboring property owners who claimed bamboo growing more than 40 feet tall had spread from the client’s property onto theirs. Callisto effectively prepared the client for the proceedings and presented a persuasive argument addressing ambiguous legal precedent. The arbitrator ruled entirely in the client’s favor, awarding no damages.

The plaintiffs have 30 days to appeal the award and request a new trial before a jury.
