Smith Speaks at Dr. Thomas L. Moss Highway Dedication

Speaking Engagements

Moore & Van Allen Public Affairs Counsel Rob Smith was invited to speak at the Dr. Thomas L. Moss highway dedication in Orangeburg, South Carolina on Friday, May 20.  The ceremony, attended by hundreds of local dignitaries, friends and family members, was held to declare a stretch of U.S. 301 as the Dr. Thomas L. Moss Memorial Highway.

Smith worked with Moss on the late U.S. Senator Strom Thurmond’s staff for six years.  Moss was a field representative for Thurmond from 1971 until 2001.

According to The Times and Democrat, Smith stated his time with Moss was“…invaluable experience,” and that Moss “encouraged all of us to work hard for those less fortunate, and to live life with purpose and vigor.”

"One thing I saw from Dr. Moss was he never turned away from a constituent, even when justified. He always did what he could, he always stood up for what was right and instilled that in all of us."
