MVA 20th annual Sally and Bill Van Allen Public Service Award

MVA celebrated its longstanding commitment to public service by hosting the 20th annual Sally and Bill Van Allen Public Service Award presentation on September 15. The annual event recognized the achievements of firm employees and community partners who make significant service contributions. This year’s event also included a celebration of Mrs. Sally Van Allen who is set to celebrate her 100th birthday in October.

Award recipients include:

Sally and Bill Van Allen Public Service Award: Ben Hawfield, Financial Restructuring Member, for his lifelong dedication to bettering the legal profession and community at large. From advocating for food-insecure communities to mentoring rising lawyers, Ben embodies the spirit set forth by MVA’s founding members, and Mrs. Van Allen, to serve others.

Outstanding Volunteer Staff Member Award: Vicki Kirby, for her numerous hands-on volunteer efforts and for her direct support of human trafficking survivors through the MVA Human Trafficking Pro Bono Project. ​

Outstanding Pro Bono Project Award: Little Rock Community Development Corporation Pro Bono Team comprised of MVA Commercial Real Estate Paralegal Sara Chapman and Member Michael Hebert, and Litigation Members Tony Lathrop and Mary Katherine Stukes. The team continues to provide pro bono counsel to the Little Rock Community Development Corporation in the development of a new affordable housing project in Uptown Charlotte - Varick on 7th.
