Law360 Names Moore & Van Allen Member Kate Wellman a Rising Star in Compliance
Moore & Van Allen (MVA) is pleased to announce that Financial Regulatory Advice & Response Member Kate Wellman was selected by Law360 as one of four Compliance “Rising Stars” for 2025.
Law360’s national Rising Stars awards program annually recognizes attorneys “whose legal accomplishments belie their age.” Winners are selected based on career accomplishments in their respective disciplines. The publication received more than 1,100 nominations for the 2025 awards.
“Kate is an incredibly deserving recipient of this prestigious recognition. From the moment she joined our firm, she has been a tremendous asset to the team,” said Co-head of Financial Regulatory Advice & Response Neil T. Bloomfield.
Wellman was recognized for her excellence in managing large-scale regulatory compliance projects for financial institutions, including projects related to development of state and federal law inventories, LIBOR and BSBY transitions, consent order remediation, recovery and resolution planning, and compliance with global shareholding related requirements. She also advises institutions on requirements under a variety of state and federal laws and regulations, including the Bank Holding Company Act, Commodity Exchange Act, Dodd-Frank Act, and federal securities laws. In addition to her regulatory compliance work, Wellman represents financial institutions in investigations involving U.S. and global authorities, which have included issues related to systems and controls.
“Kate has meaningful and trusted experience leading several of our largest and most demanding projects for our clients,” said Co-head of Financial Regulatory Advice & Response and Co-chair of MVA’s Public Service Committee Edward P. O’Keefe. “She also dedicates significant time to important pro bono work and thought leadership contributions that elevate our industry and reflect our core values. Kate is a leader in every regard.”
Throughout her career, Wellman has prioritized pro bono work in the areas of housing, civil rights, and children’s rights. Earlier this year, Wellman was invited by Law360 to co-author an article detailing key aspects of the FDIC’s updated resolution planning FAQs and co-led a CLE webinar hosted by Strafford on developments related to the Secured Overnight Financing Rate (SOFR).
