MVA Hosts CLE on Protecting AI-Related Innovation
Moore & Van Allen (MVA) attorneys from our AI and Emerging Technologies Group, Anup Iyer and Kevin Ransom, continued the seminar series with “Protecting AI-Related Innovation.” The session addressed the unsettled legal landscape surrounding intellectual property protections for AI-related innovations.
Iyer and Ransom provided a practical framework for identifying the role of AI in the innovation process—whether AI fully generates a creation, assists a human creator, or forms part of a product—and explained why those distinctions are critical for inventorship, authorship, and eligibility under U.S. law. The discussion also examined trade secrets, patents, copyrights, and trademarks in the AI context, highlighting current standards, risks, and best practices.
