As Human Trafficking Awareness Month Comes to a Close, MVA Makes its Mark

Commitment
01.2020

The MVA Human Trafficking Pro Bono Project had a busy month raising awareness by training hundreds of professionals and onboarding a dozen new client matters. Project leader Sarah Byrne partnered with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of N.C. to train a multidisciplinary audience of law enforcement, tribal leadership and service providers in Cherokee, NC. Byrne also presented on “Human Trafficking – What Financial Institutions Can Do” at the Carolinas Credit Union League BSA/AML Conference.

The Firm wrapped up the month with a highly attended CLE for Charlotte Pro Bono Triage volunteers on “Understanding Complex Trauma in Supporting Victims of Human Trafficking.”  HT awareness month comes to a close, but the Firm’s work continues.
