Charlotte Intellectual Property Member Dick Lupo co-authored an article published in the Third Quarter 2011 edition of Corporate Board Member magazine. The article, “Dot-brand-- A New Extension to an Old Game,” is featured in the magazine’s Weighing In section.

The article addresses the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers’ (ICANN) June 2011 approval of the expansion of the generic top-level domain (gTLD) space. This expansion opens the door to an unlimited number of privately owned extensions— companies will have an opportunity to control a domain name that wholly corresponds to their name or brand.
