Overview

Doug Crandell provides counsel to clients across the chemical, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, and materials science industries. Doug’s practice focuses on global patent prosecution and portfolio management, patent infringement and validity analyses, freedom to operate analyses, due diligence, and intellectual property transactions.

Doug received his J.D. from the Washington University School of Law in St. Louis, where he worked in the Intellectual Property and Entrepreneurship Law Clinic. Before attending law school, Doug earned his Ph.D. in inorganic chemistry from Indiana University and was an Assistant Professor at Saint Louis University. His research focused on applying computational methods to understand the role of transition metals in catalysis for applications in organic synthesis, electrochemistry, and clean energy technologies.

Prior to joining the firm, Doug practiced at a national IP boutique law firm handing patent prosecution, patent litigation, and FDA-related matters.
